This past month has been a rollercoaster but an incredible one. We have now been in our new house for just over a month and from day one it has felt like home. The drive on moving day from our old town to this one had a feeling of driving somewhere that we have always meant to be. I'm not saying our old house didn't feel like home, because it did, just the town wasn't home. It didn't have the feel our new one does, I felt isolated and a little alone once Mr C had left for work. The house we lived in was definitely home but as they say you make a house a home. That was because it was where our family was.
When I walk through our new door, or even see it, I get a warm fuzzy feeling. The boys fill it with laughter and fights but that's what brothers do. They fill our home with love and once the door is locked at night and it's us four its an incredible feeling.
It feels like this is somewhere we were always meant to be. I walk Finley to preschool and I smile & say hi to people I don't actually know but because we live here we do, if that makes sense. I feel a sense of community and I know if we needed anything there would be someone there.
The other best bit is friends. Our friends are literally just up the road and to have them over for drinks, a cup of tea or just a simple catch up really is amazing. To know if we needed someone to look after the boys they would be there - like the other evening my best friends husband looked after the boys, as she was at work, and we had a school meeting to go to.
Aww! It sounds like you are so so happy where you are living! You look it too. Lovely photo x

ReplyDeleteDo you think you've found your "forever" house? #justanotherlinky
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds just absolutely perfect - to have that feeling must be amazing - you're so right about a house being a home but the place not feeling like home - I know that feeling!! Hope you continue to enjoy where you live for many years! #fortheloveofBLOG
ReplyDeletesounds fantastic. We're pretty isolated where we are now, but I miss the days when I was younger and knew everybody in the neighborhood #justanotherlinky
ReplyDeleteI could feel the love for your new community through your words. That's really important. I have that sense of peace within my neighborhood as well and it makes a difference. So glad things are going well for you and the family. ~Lowanda
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely. We are still looking for somewhere to feel we belong I guess. Living so far from family (From Scotland originally) we struggle with feeling isolated and a bit homesick. Yes we have a few friends but it would be nice to have people we can rely on if need be or just to spend time with.

ReplyDeleteAww... Congratulations on your new house! I really can't wait to be able to get my own place either... one day... one day... I will get there. :) #justanotherlinky
ReplyDeleteAh this is lovely - it's exactly how I feel about our house - our last place never felt quite right - it never felt like we really belonged there - like we were just using it as a stop gap even though we never intended it like that! I'm pleased you've found your forever home :) thanks for hosting #justanotherlinky
ReplyDeleteSo pleased it's worked out for you - it took me about a year to come to terms with our last move - I did it for Misery Guts and the kids and it took a while for me to warm to our new environment! #justanotherlinky

ReplyDeleteLove this :) Sounds like the way I feel about Cornwall, I'd love to be out in the sticks a bit more though in all honesty as handy as living in a biggish town is.

This is lovely, we had this in our own home. It was a cottage in a tiny little I'll age where everyone knew your name and cooed over babies and bumps. But once my second bump appeared we had to sell and move. Because the house prices in that area shot up we had to look further afield for our new home, we ended up moving away from friends and family and although I love our new town I deeply miss that sense of belonging and fuzziness for a home x
