My 2015 Round-Up In Pictures

So here we are at the end of 2015 and what a year it has been. We made some big decisions this year, one being to move house and town which will hopefully all happen in January. It's been a long old process but one that will be worth the wait.

This year has also seen Noah start preschool and Finley move to a new preschool. Their relationship has blossomed and it really has been lovely to see, I have also broken up a few brotherly love fights!

Here are my highlights from 2015 in pictures.

January - One of our many walks at Westonbirt

February - Our holiday to Croyde Bay

March - Our day at the lambing weekend

April - Easter, chocolate for breakfast obviously!

April - Our trip to South Africa

June - A trip to the zoo

July - Our holiday to Bluestone in Wales

July - Noah's 2nd Birthday trip to Peppa Pig World

August - At my cousins wedding

September - Finley's 4th Birthday at Disneyland Paris

Things Just Got Real

Our house has been sold now since August, but we are part of the longest chain in house sale history, I reckon, and we have yet to move.

But after a phone call last week from our estate agent, today the realisation of the fact that this is actually happening and that it is more than likely going to be in the next few weeks smacked us in the face.

Since 4pm this afternoon when I got home the hubby and I have been chatting about things that need doing and have got the moving boxes on order for collection in the morning. This time tomorrow the walls will be bare!

We have been sailing along in our own little bubble since the chain was complete, hoping it would be November and then hoping it would be before Christmas, which as you can see never happened. Nothing has been packed, we have thought about how we will do it but never actually got round to it.

Then this afternoon we realised come new year we could have weeks, to pack up our 3 bedroom house that we have lived in for 8 1/2 years. We have accumulated a lot of stuff, I am a hoarder, and lots of bits. Now my first thought has always been, where do we start?? Especially with the boys around.

This evening I tidied some puzzles, put some unboxed Christmas presents in the attic ready to be opened in the new house, filled one box with some kitchen stuff and one box with some of the boys books. I think that's a good start but my goodness we have a way to go!

Tomorrow will be the day we get serious with this packing malarkey and the day we start to clear out the alcohol cupboard I'm sure in preparation for the move. Because those bottles are going to take up space so to free up that space we have got to drink!

Here's to 2016, a new house and many more happy family memories to be made.

Just Another Linky #35

Welcome to week 35 of Just Another Linky and the last one of 2016! Where did 2015 go? Next year is a big one for us with a house move, the boys starting a new preschool and Finley starting school - I have a feeling 2016 will be one big emotional rollercoaster.

I hope you have all had an amazing Christmas! I am writing this before Christmas as I know I wont have had a second to write a post between the boys excitement, drinking baileys and eating chocolate.

Also a Happy New Year to you and I hope 2016 brings you all you wish for.

#BlogItForward - Giving Back

For the month of December, Wayfair UK are donating £50 to Habitat for Humanity, an organisation that helps the poorest and most vulnerable people lift themselves out of poverty by partnering with them to build their homes and communities, for every act of kindness they find from a blogger. All we have to do is write a blog post about something we have done to give back and they will donate. To me this was simple, I was going to do it.

I was racking my brain on things I could do and then it came to me, I was due to give blood on Monday 14th. I hadn't planned to write a post about it but I thought if it means that Wayfair UK will donate then why not.

So Monday just gone I got my mother in law over to watch the boys and popped on down to the town hall. I have never given blood before and I was a little nervous but knew it was all for a good cause. I had read the whole actually giving blood would only take 5-10 minutes so thought it would be over and done with in no time at all.

I arrived on my allotted time but had to wait about half an hour to be seen. I had been informed that they were very busy and were having to turn people away so it was a good thing I had booked. To be honest I didn't mind waiting, I didn't have the kids and could catch up on some social media.

I was then taken to the side behind some screens where they tested my blood to see if I was anaemic, thankfully I wasn't, and to go through my questionnaire to make sure they were ok for me to give blood.

They were very kind and made me feel at ease, I think they saw the nervousness on my face. The giving blood part was painless, apart from the tiny pin prick to begin with, and relatively quick.

Once finished I was taken over to a table full of drinks and snack. I was advised that as a first time blood giver I was to just stick to cold drinks but to eat as many mince pies and biscuits as I liked, which I did! They recommend you stay there for about 15 minute just to make sure your ok and after that time I was bursting for a wee. I got up to go and a kind gentleman told me to go careful and if I wasn't back in 2 minute he would get someone to come and see if I was ok.

After my toilet break I was then off, but not before booking in to give blood again next year.

I was feeling ok until about 20 minute of being home when I went a little light headed. Thankfully my mother in law was still there and she made me eat a cookie, there was no arguments from me, and made me a cup of tea with a sugar.

It has always been something that I have wanted to do but I have never had the guts to do it. After having the boys my pain threshold is higher and I am no longer scared of needles so now seemed a great time to go and do it.

I now nominate two fellow blogger to join in with #BlogItForward - Run Jump Scrap and Mrs Puddleducky.

A Fancy Dress Challenge With Tickled Pink - Review

Dressing up is something both my boys love to do as I am sure it is for most toddlers/pre-schoolers. We have Spiderman, the Gruffalo along with a whole bunch of make believe dress up. Dress up lets children express themselves in lots of different way and I believe it is a fundamental part of learning for them.

When I was contacted by Tickled Pink and asked if I would like to take part in their Fancy Dress Challenge, I thought this would be great for the boys. The challenge was originally for their adult fancy dress range but when I explained how much the boys love to dress up and my ideas they were more than happy to let us bend the rules a little.

I selected a Santa suit for Finley which was aged 4-6 years and as their costumes start at age 4 I said we would add one of our own in for Noah. The price of the Santa's outfit on their website is £7.99, but currently priced at £5.99.

The costume arrived just a few days later and the boys were so excited to get dressing up and playing make believe. Along with the Santa's outfit we were also sent an additional Santa's hat and some glasses.

We started off with Finley being Santa and Noah was the Gruffalo with a Santa hat on. We decided to go for the traditional photo to begin with, so I sat the Gruffalo on Santa's knee and without any prompting Finley asked Noah what he would like for Christmas. This resulted, as you can see in the pictures, in a long discussion between them. Finley was loving being Santa and the outfit fitted perfectly. Finley then wanted to riffle through his sack for presents for Noah in front of the Christmas tree. I loved how both boys were getting into the Christmas spirit with the outfit and Finley's imagination went wild with getting into the role of Santa.

Noah then wanted to try on the outfit and Finley wanted to received some presents (trains). Even with Noah only being two he has picked up the fact that Santa asks children what they would like for Christmas so he was going around asking myself, Finley and his Daddy what we would like for Christmas. With Noah being Santa Finley wanted to be a Minion Santa.

This was such a great way to get the boys into the Christmas spirit and to see what they actually think of Christmas. With dressing up they use their imagination as well as using real life situations they have been in.

The outfit was great quality and I am sure will be in our dress up box for years to come. And will be used throughout the year.

* For the purpose of this review we were sent one Santa's outfit along with a Santa's hat and glasses from Tickled Pink Fancy Dress *
