We All Need A Bit Of Pampering

When we become parents our own needs are pushed way down the priority pile and our children's wants and needs come before our own. But I believe we still need some us time. Even if its a walk or run on your own, or a trip to the salon for a haircut.

I am lucky enough to have found a hairdresser that will always fit me in when I message her in a panic as I have forgotten to book an appointment and I need a haircut within the next week. She knows how I like to have my haircut and she is brilliant when I go in with a picture and say 'like this please.' This hairdresser is Abi Andrews and she has a beautiful little salon in Tetbury, a town I spend my teenage years growing up in.

At Abi Andrews Hair & Makeup I always get a warm welcome and I am made to feel very comfortable. I normally have a wash, cut and blow-dry with the occasion colour when my hair is feeling a little bit dark.

The salon is beautifully decorated and has an air of warmth which makes you feel comfortable there.

Last time I went I had a wash, cut and blow-dry and Abi had managed to squeeze me in just a few weeks before Christmas after a frantic message from me after looking at my split ends. After an initial chat I was taken to have my hair washed, this has to be one of the best things about going to the hairdressers. It really is very relaxing. The conversation always flows and there is never any awkward silences.

After my hair wash I was offered a cup of tea, this again is a luxury as I get to drink a hot cup of tea. Having a hair cut really is a luxury when you have children and even my hour at the salon I was able to relax.

Abi really is a fantastic and I always walk away happy with whatever I have done with my hair.

* I was very kindly given my wash, cut and blow-dry free of charge but all opinions are 100% my own *

  5. My hairdresser went mobile at the end of last year which was a bonus because it is so much cheaper and more flexible with the kids...but reading this does make me miss those 3 hour pamper sessions (always followed by a shopping splurge and eyebrow threading in town). Ah, those golden summers ha ha! #coolmumclub

  6. Oh it really is just the pampering of all pampering isn't it? someone brings you coffee (sometimes even a glass of wine!), all the latest magazines and you can actually sit in peace for 5 mins and puruse through pages of beautifulness and pretend just for 5 minutes that you too have a life like those portrayed in Vogue/Tatler etc! #coolmumclub Happy Friday x

  21. A good hairdresser is a thing to be treasured!

I've been lucky enough to find a really cool barbers near me with a great line in music, chat about all manner of weird stuff and a haircut that leaves me feeling human and like a functioning adult rather than an tumbledried mop head!

  22. Would she consider relocating to Cornwall?! Ha in my 32 years I have yet to find a hairdresser who doesn't either dye my forehead or do completely different to what I asked. I tend to cut my own hair now, but I really do want a good hairdresser.
Thanks for linking up to #Picknmix lovely

  25. Hi Kirsty, a bit of 'me' time is so important to keep us sane. You are so lucky to have found a hairdresser that you enjoy going to. The waiting area looks warm and friendly rather than stiff and formal. I've not had my hair cut in a salon for about eighteen years. I am lucky that I have found my perfect hairdresser too, she comes to the house, understands how curly hair works so I get a good cut every time and she knows my shade of pink... The only downside is having to make the tea myself!

    xx

  26. Couldn't agree more and your hair looks fab!! Mine really needs a snip and re-style, I find it tough fitting in the time too, but it's definitely important to as a mum. You got to look the part right
