The Perfect Nights Sleep

Since becoming a parent my whole outlook on sleep has changed. Before we had the boys my husband and I loved our sleep. We would sleep in at weekends until 11am and even when waking up we would lie in bed until close to midday watching TV and eating crumpets. When our little terrors came along that all changed and a lie in was 9am, and this would only happen if one of us got up with the boys and let the other sleep in. Even then it wasn't a lie in as babies and toddlers aren't the quietest of creatures, especially first thing in the morning.

At Yorkshire Linen they want to help parents get the best quality of sleep they can get. They have asked me to share my tips of getting a good nights sleep in the hope it will help others to get one too. As a parent it is so important that we are on top of our game, as lets be honest children are on the go all the time, so here is my tips to make sure you get some good quality sleep.

Now it is all about the quality of sleep that we get. This again for us hasn't been great as Finley our eldest has never been a great sleeper. Only in the last few months has he started to sleep through the night and this is only a few nights a week, the others he will wake a few times having lost his duvet or needing a wee. But what I feel helps with the quality of sleep is our bedding. Having lovely, soft, appealing bedding will make you want to get into bed a little bit earlier. This will mean even though you are up at 6am, sometimes even earlier, you can get a bit more sleep.

I always get really excited to go to bed on the day which I have fresh bedding on. It looks and smells amazing, and going to bed has never been so appealing. I also feel that light coloured, neutral bedding has been the key to an appealing bed. I think it makes the room calm and serene which helps with a better nights sleep too. Here are some examples from Yorkshire Linen of what I think will make the best bedding for the perfect nights sleep for me.

Hannah Silver Duvet Cover Set - King Size

Catherine Lansfield Kashmir Duvet Cover Set - King Size

Bianca Cotton Soft - Origami White Duvet Cover Set - King Size

I also think it is about the quality of duvet that you have. If you have a soft duvet and pillow covers that have been washed with some added softener it will smell and feel lovely to get into.

So as a parent our sleep is very limited but it's about getting the right quality of sleep whether it's a good 8 hours with no interruptions or 10 hours with a few wake ups, a good bedding set will make you feel like you have at least had some good quality sleep be it only 2 hours at a time.

  2. I agree it is lovely to have a bed you enjoy being in and linen you love makes all the difference. Nothing worse than scratchy sheets or a duvet that's not quite big enough! I like the silver one best.

  3. So with you, a nice fresh made bed with cosy linen is heaven! OH and I are total opposites when it comes to beds, so we actually have twin singles! I get my super soft mattress, dozen pillows, pretty linen, etc, and he gets his dull, spartan, hard mattressed bed... lol. x #binkylinky

  7. I am a big fan of white, I have the most gorgeous white bed spread, it cost me a lot but it has been worth it as I have had it for 4 years and still am in love with it. With white I find it easy to change cushions or a throw, without having to change and buy new covers. #justanotherlinky

  16. I agree, my husband and I used to sleep in until late morning. I can't imagine ever doing that again especially as my toddler now insists on getting up at 5.30am every day! I agree that fresh, clean and beautiful sheets can really help to get a decent night's sleep. Thanks for hosting. #JustAnotherLinky

  36. Hi Kirsty, freshly laundered bedding is the best for a good nights sleep. I like to wash and dry ours, before popping it in the tumble dryer for ten minutes and putting straight back on the bed. I do prefer bedding with happy colours, but if it smells good I'm not too worried about the colour.
