Being that little bit selfish

Right now I am sat here doing something pretty selfish. I have a hot cup of tea, 2 digestive biscuits and both boys are asleep. There are two reasons this is selfish, one is because when my 3 year old sleeps in the day he is a nightmare to go to bed and I am out this evening so my husband will have to deal with that. And two because my ironing basket is overflowing, there is washing up that needs doing, I have work I should be doing rather than blogging and I should be packing for BritMums on Friday. But I wanted to write a post, read and comment on some blogs. As you can see there wasn't anything in particular I needed to blog about but I wanted to write. Sometimes we need to put the cleaning aside and put ourselves first. I spend my life running around after two little people and a husband that cant make scrambled egg (another post entirely). Don't get me wrong I wouldn't change it for the world but sometimes I just need some me time, on my own, doing what I want to do rather than doing what needs to be done. I will pay for it later as the husband will say what a nightmare Finley was going to bed, read this and see this picture......
oops!! Sorry - I think!

After the morning we have had I need to enjoy a hot cup of tea and a biscuit that I don't have to share. And when they wake up I might put off the work and ironing a little bit longer and go into the garden and paint with them. Because sometimes we have to be selfish.

I strongly believe that Mums should take some time out when they can. To regroup and to find yourself again. I don't mean for long periods of time as as a mum this isn't possible but for the odd 10/15 minutes here and there it can make all the difference. I can't remember the last time I did this but even in 10 minutes I feel more relaxed and feel I can now conquer the afternoon with more energy and enthusiasm than I would have done had I not stopped.

I am now going to quickly pop off and tidy up the mess that is around me from the mornings playing as I can be selfish but I cant stand mess!!

This one is also asleep

  3. Oh, I remember when I was on maternity leave, going out for a walk, getting home with a sleeping Zach and silently creeping round the house making and drinking a hot cup of tea! You are so right that sometimes we just need some time. To let tham have that extra half hour nap so that we can have some me time! It makes for a better parent me thinks! Thanks for sharing and thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
